“My wife and her businesses are up in New York,” he pointed out. “My life and my businesses are here in Austin, Texas, but that means I go back and forth a lot. And so whenever I'm traveling, and especially if I'm up in New York, this is how I still participate on a daily basis here in our Austin office.”
Qonexus, a follower of all things TEDTalk, has recently posted a picture from TED 2011 of Jeff Bezos chatting it up with our very own Anybot, embedded above. We are confident that if you follow our blog you are aware of TED. We are also confident that if you are aware of TED, you know that we both collaborated recently to do something awesome. Well, just in case you needed further proof, here is one more example of the kind of attention we received at TED 2011. Just imagine botting in from your laptop and suddenly being approached by someone as influencial as him. Well, that's exactly what happend at TED, and that's exactly what our product is capable of. Being in an Anybot will get you noticed. What you do from there is up to you.
Looks like Engadget is holding a contest for 2010 Robot of the Year. Now, while all the other contestants are certainly fun and interesting machines, in our completely (un)biased opinion we believe the Anybots QB should triumph in this category. Right now, the infamous "Robot Orders a Scone" video is continuing to sweep the internet and end up with the likes of Pastry Talk, Cybersnack, and of course Engadget. When MSNBC picked up the story, our beloved Daniel Casner recounted the event in glorious detail, letting the world know just how full of awesome Anybots really is. So sure, it may be cool that Nao can do synchronized dancing, A R Drone can run some slick augmented reality, Robonaut 2 will be shot into space, PR2 can fetch me a beer, and Neato XV-11 can vacuum my floor, but they're no Robot of the Year. Do you want to you know why? The Anybot can do something none of the others can. QB can do something novel. Some may even call is extraordinary. The Anybots QB, unlike any of the other robots, has the unique ability to flirt with baristas. We have personally devoted many a man-hour of foregoing our very own barista-related escapades to refine our courting technology and allow you, the hopeless romantic, to flirt to your heart's content. That, my fellow QB friends, is why the Anybots QB deserves to win. Whether or not that happens though is up to you. Head there now, submit your vote, and follow Anybots to glory.
"Everybody has meetings and every meeting has a break where people go out in the hall and drink coffee and talk," says Clark. "Speaker phones don't move, but an avatar robot can. It can go out in the hall and allow you to talk to people. It does everything except drink coffee.". Full article in Design News
Thursday started out normally enough. Papers were delivered and cars were in traffic. The sun was still shining and everything was business as usual in the Anybots office. That is, however, until one of our engineers got a monster craving for a scone. Not just any scone, mind you, but a scone from Red Rock Coffee. Now typically, this particular engineer would have walked the mile or so out to the coffee shop to retrieve this delectable confection all for the sake of satisfying a craving. This time though, he decided to satiate two of his appetites at once: his desire to ingest a delicious scone and also his desire to drive robots through a city. Once he found a wireless hotspot laying around, he strapped it to the robot and was out the door in a heartbeat. The remarkable thing is that not only did the Anybot make it all the way to the coffee shop on its own (driven by the engineer from the office), but the Anybot was actually given service! That kind of open-mindedness Anybots certainly appreciates, and we would like to kindly thank the lovely people over at Red Rock Coffee for serving a robot without being fazed one bit.
Update: So, looks like I forgot about silly things such as copyright, consent, and the overall concept of obtaining permission. As sweet a video as it was, unfortunately we had to take it down. Luckily though, aaron96121 posted his own awesome video on Youtube, so we've embedded that one instead.
I'll be honest. We don't get out much. We spend our days, nights, weekends, holidays, and bathroom breaks working on robots (we're really dedicated). So when we find cause to celebrate, we make sure we do it in style. Today, as much of the tech world has reported, Anybots has officially begun shipping robots out to customers. We could not be happier, and we certainly appreciate the constant support we've been receiving from our family, friends, and fellow technophiles. We love you guys, and we're ready to crank it up to eleven. Stay tuned for more Anybots awesomeness.
